Character Day is a free annual day and global initiative where groups around the world screen films on the science of character development from different perspectives, and engage in a world-wide discussion regarding the importance of developing various character strengths – all rooted in evidence-based research. The initiative was started three years ago by a California based nonprofit that uses cloud filmmaking to tell stories for global change. Over 62,000 groups (schools, businesses, churches and other organizations) from over 92 countries have already registered to participate in this year's event. Local Character Day 2016 activities will be county-wide and taking place at various times throughout the day on September 22, 2016! Our local Consolidated School Districts and institutions of higher education plan to participate. We will also host continuous film viewings and have an opportunity for discussion with parents and the public on September 22, 2016 from 5:30p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, 155 Riverside Drive, Orangeburg, SC 29115. To participate, R.S.V.P., or for more information, contact Orangeburg County Community of Character at 803-534-6821
